On May 9, 2026, Innovative Legal Services (ILS) successfully hosted its first Mock Trial program of 2026, bringing together attorneys and legal professionals from ILS, Liang Ly LLP., David Azar, and across the legal industry for a highly immersive litigation training experience modeled after a real U.S. jury trial.

Nearly 40 participants — including attorneys, witnesses, jurors, and legal professionals — took part in the full-day program, which centered on contract disputes and fraudulent inducement claims. The mock trial was designed to closely replicate the structure, pace, and pressure of actual courtroom litigation in the United States.
The program covered every major phase of a jury trial, including:
Jury Selection (Voir Dire)
Opening Statements
Direct & Cross Examination
Evidentiary Objections and Trial Exhibits
Closing Arguments
Jury Deliberation

Throughout the exercise, participating attorneys were required to analyze facts, examine witnesses, respond to objections, and adapt to real-time developments under significant time pressure — simulating the demands of high-stakes litigation practice.
ILS Managing Partner Richard Liu, Esq. emphasized the importance of practical courtroom preparation:
“In real litigation, there is rarely time to pause and rethink your strategy. Many cases turn on small details and split-second decisions. Trainings like this help attorneys become more confident, more precise, and more prepared when representing clients in real disputes.”

Unlike traditional internal workshops, the Mock Trial program focused heavily on realism and live courtroom dynamics. From witness examinations to jury interaction and evidentiary disputes, each stage was structured to mirror the intensity and unpredictability of actual trial proceedings.
To further strengthen courtroom advocacy and storytelling skills, ILS also introduced several litigation-focused awards, including:
Best Trial Advocate
Cross Killer
Compelling Storyteller
Best Witness
Best Juror

According to ILS, the purpose of the Mock Trial extends far beyond competition itself. The firm views these programs as a critical part of long-term attorney development, particularly for younger litigators learning how to think, communicate, and perform effectively under pressure.
“Young attorneys grow the fastest when they are pushed into real-time problem-solving environments,” Liu noted.“Litigation is not only about legal knowledge — it is also about strategy, communication, and the ability to manage complex human dynamics in high-pressure situations.
The event also reflects ILS’s continued investment in litigation training and talent development.
For ILS, the phrase “We Speak Business” represents more than a slogan. The firm believes attorneys must not only understand the law itself, but also the business realities and operational pressures clients face — allowing them to deliver legal strategies that are both practical and commercially effective.
ILS plans to host its next Mock Trial program in approximately three months, alongside additional litigation-focused training initiatives aimed at providing attorneys with deeper, more hands-on trial experience.
