Rui (Roy) Wang, Esq.

Roy Wang is an Associate Counsel in the transaction team at ILS’s San Jose office. He specializes in compliance, regulatory matters, and financing transactions. His distinguished career features substantial expertise in guiding clients through intricate regulatory frameworks and structured finance transactions.

Roy began his legal career at a Magic Circle firm, where he worked for more than five years. He completed rotations across several practice areas: Derivatives, Structured Products and Regulatory, Capital Markets, and Dispute Resolution. Throughout these rotations, he cultivated expertise in securities initial public offering, international commercial arbitration and regulatory compliance. He also built specialized knowledge in financial regulation which enables him to navigate complex regulatory environments for clients across diverse industries. His significant experience with derivatives and structured financing transactions has established him as a trusted advisor for clients engaged in complicated matters and cross-border financing.

Academically, Roy holds degrees from a prestigious Chinese institution, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in 2016 and 2019, respectively. He further obtained an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School. This comprehensive educational background enhances his professional capabilities, allowing him to apply global perspectives to regional legal challenges. The synergy between his academic qualifications and hands-on experience enables Roy to deliver thorough, nuanced guidance on multifaceted legal issues.

Outside of his legal career, Roy is passionate about cooking authentic Chinese cuisine and enjoys exploring new destinations through travel.
