Jieyu (Maggie) Zhang

Senior Counsel

Maggie is a dual-qualified corporate attorney with experience advising public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, capital markets transactions, and corporate governance matters. Maggie advises clients on capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, reverse mergers, and de-SPAC transactions.

Maggie regularly advises public companies on periodic reporting obligations under U.S. securities laws and other ongoing corporate governance and compliance requirements — including Section 16 and Schedule 13G/D filings — as well as takeover preparedness and shareholder activism. Her practice encompasses general corporate matters and strategic cross-border transactions, helping clients navigate complex legal landscapes in both the U.S. and China.

Prior to joining ILS, Maggie practiced at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, a leading global law firm, where she served as a senior corporate attorney. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, Maggie served as a full-time judicial extern at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, assisting a federal judge with trial proceedings and judicial decision-making.

Prior to attending Berkeley Law, she practiced as a corporate attorney at Tian Yuan Law Firm in Shanghai, China. She earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from Fudan University and is dual-qualified to practice law in China and the U.S. Maggie is native in Mandarin Chinese and Shanghainese.
