David Azar

Partner
Head of AI Practice Group

David is a Partner and Head of the AI Practice Group at ILS, where he advises companies and investors on complex commercial litigation, strategic dispute resolution, and the evolving legal and regulatory issues surrounding artificial intelligence. He also serves as outside general counsel, helping clients navigate legal risk, regulatory compliance, and critical business decisions with a practical, business-oriented approach.

Having spent 17 years building and winning class actions and securities cases from the plaintiffs' side, David knows exactly how these cases are constructed, and now uses that insight to defend companies against them. He has handled some of the nation's most significant commercial disputes, drawing on extensive trial, appellate, and mediation experience to develop practical strategies that align with each client's long-term business objectives while managing litigation and regulatory risk.

Prior to joining ILS, David served as a Partner at Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman PLLC for 17 years. Earlier in his career, he practiced at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He also served as a law clerk to Chief Justice E. Norman Veasey of the Delaware Supreme Court, gaining valuable judicial insight into complex corporate and commercial litigation.

David earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Duke University School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Combining elite litigation experience with a strong business and financial background, he delivers strategic solutions that help clients protect their interests while advancing their long-term objectives.
